What is Collexpo?

Collexpo is a social networking and research site for collectors — like you (and me). Consider Collexpo to be a combination of Facebook & Wikipedia, except that it is focused only on specific collecting hobbies. Currently, we offer sites in the following collecting categories:

We welcome your input on what categories we should pursue in the future. Rest assured, we want to build great sites for all collectors.

While you will enjoy a personal collecting profile with personalized content, Collexpo also allows you to research your collecting interests through articles and essays written by fellow members. And, catering to any collectors' fundamental need, you can use Collexpo to find buyers and sellers for items you are looking to buy, sell or trade.

Your collecting passion fuels a desire to increase your expertise in your specific collecting category. The same passion also drives you to want the most valuable collectibles that you can find and afford. At Collexpo, we understand that "valuable" doesn't always mean expensive — most collectibles appeal to our sentimental sides, as well. To find the best collectibles, our users need to research the market, and, even more importantly, network with like-minded collectors to find the best source of the items or information they seek. Collexpo sites are simply tools that will help you achieve all of your collecting needs.

Features

Our websites are organized to highlight the best features we have to offer. Here is a brief overview:

  • Item Browser — we have amassed large databases of collectible items which can be used as tools for many purposes — cataloging items you own are want to own, researching comparables, helping others with valuation estimates, etc. As an example, there are over 250,000 unique entries in our baseball card database.
  • My Expo — your personalized My Expo consists of many parts: your Profile page, your Favorite collectibles section, a messaging and contacts center, your Blog and even a Research File where you can store any content that you wish to remember.
  • Similar Users recommendations — Collexpo analyzes the items you save into collections on your Collections page. It uses this information to match you with other members who like similar items. I encourage you to use these recommendations to find other members and explore their Expo pages — particularly their Profile and Collections pages. Be sure to have a look at their lists of contacts and then explore those users as well.
  • Research Articles — like it sounds, Collexpo's experts — user's like you — provide research articles on collecting topics, and you can read, review and even edit their work. You can also post topics for which you'd like to see a new article submissions. Topics can range from specific collectible items to general subjects like "How to start a coin collection."
  • Communication Tools — Collexpo's messaging center allows you to interact with your peers, build groups of like-minded collectors and discuss any collecting topic on our message boards. It's easy to build collector networks on Collexpo!
